On a serious note...

So to make a long story short, one of my brothers was adopted and his birth mother was a meth addict.

From birth, he has had medical problems and when he was little, one of his kidneys failed and was removed. As he got older and more recently reached puberty, his remaining kidney was not growing with him. He was put on the donor list and out of the blue a stranger from my mom's small town in Humboldt County, Ca approached my brother after overhearing that he needed one. (It's a very small town and word travels fast.)

You can read about the story here, written by a Humboldt blogger.

Anyways, she was a match. Do you know how hard that is to be a match? It's incredible and my family is and will be forever grateful to this woman Shannon. She is not asking for a cent, she has no weird intentions. She is just a good, giving, self-less person.

My parent's insurance covers mostly everything... except some of our co-payments, and also living expenses for Shannon while she is in recovery. Family and friends are throwing her a fundraiser dinner to raise money for her living expenses and a donation fund was also set up for her.

If you are looking to donate to a good cause, please consider donating to her fund.
