OOTD: It's been a couple of weeks!

Hola!

I apologize for my lack of recent posts! I have been a busy bee. My mom came down from Northern California for a week and we have been pretty social lately. Sometimes we get in the habit of being total homebodies, which I am ok with, but it's been nice going out more and having a little bit of an adult social life. (That sounds porn-ish. It was not meant to be. LOL)

I wish that I had a personal photographer everyday for all of my favorite outfits, but here are some of my outfits from last week. Here's hoping that I get back on a good blogging routine!!

Dress: Torrid, size 2 (sold out online)
Blazer: Torrid, size 2
Earrings: Sampled
Sandals: Super old Torrid

Dress: Torrid size 3
Belt: Torrid (sold out online)
Necklace: Super old Torrid
Shoes: Super old Payless

Top: Old Torrid
Skirt: Old Avenue

Dress: Lane Bryant, size 22
Necklace: Thrifted
Sunglasses: Target

So there was last week's outfits. I felt very girly all week... but I always feel girly, soooo...

Also, I have to share my new summer love. I don't know if you love spray tanning as much as I do, but it's expensive! I like the Mystic Tans the best, but it's $30 per tan and you are lucky if it lasts more than 4 days, and that is if you do not exfoliate during those 4 days. But I LOVE exfoliating. So I needed to find a new solution. My new solution... Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs

I love this stuff!! And I can get about 2 weeks of use in one can. There is a gold sheen too that it gives your legs, and I feel so confident wearing shorter dresses with a pair of tan gams. I get the lighter glow, and it is sweat proof and stays on all day. No really... all day! You just wash it away with soap and water. I swear by this stuff. It covers everything up and makes your legs look pretty flawless.

Here are a few tips to getting your legs all tan and glowy:
  • Exfoliate those stems!! I am a loofah whore, and I love a good scrub. My favorite scrub is made right in my kitchen. (Honey and brown sugar!)
  • After your bath/shower, put some good lotion on like cocoa butter. Wait to put the Airbrush legs on a bit.
  • For a nice even coverage, spray on your hands and rub on. It will be nice and light. For a heavier coverage, spray onto your legs and rub over more of the leg area, (you will use it up faster this way, but your legs will be, oh sooo tan and lushy!)
  • Put your undies (or in my case, your SPANX), on before you airbrush. Trust me.
  • Wash those hands before you put on anything else!
Voila, your legs are ready for a short skirt and the summer sun!!

Ok, I will try and blog more next week. Have a great weekend friends!!

Cult of California... "Worship at the altar of you."

Happy Saturday loves!

I apologize for no posts this past week, but I had a busy week and wanted to take a little time on this post.

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the launch and trunk show for a new Plus-sized Athletic Wear line, Cult of California, by the very talented and creative, Jen Wilder. Hosted at the beautiful and sexy, Writer's Room, I was not only excited to check out this vintage feel lounge/bar/venue nestled in the heart of Hollywood, but also to support my friend, Jen Wilder.

Based out of Los Angeles, Jen has been designing for 10 years for companies like Forever 21, BCBG, Marciano and Guess. Cult of California's goal is, "to promote beauty in all sizes, health in all sizes and style in all aspects of the plus woman’s life." Her line reflects this perfectly and with a motto like, "Worship at the altar of you," (I have adopted this as my official mantra), you can not help but be drawn to her pieces.

This is what I loved about her line:

  •  Incredible quality. Each piece feels amazing, like it was custom made exactly for you. In a world of mass produced fashion, Jen's pieces are anything but that.
  • SEXY SEXY SEXY! I don't know about you, but when I work out, sexy is the last thing that I feel. Because I am plus sized, there is not much for me to choose from when it comes to active wear that makes me feel good inside and out. I normally wear an over sized t-shirt and some yoga type pants that wear themselves out by the third work-out. Looking sexy never even had crossed my mind when working out! Cult of California has changed that completely. Now, while hiking, sweating to the oldies, or riding your bike, you can feel like a goddess... nothing wrong with that!
  • Generous sizing! Cult of California has got you covered, size 8-30.
  • Price point agrees with my wallet! Bottoms range from $45 to $70. Tops range from $28-$58. These are quality pieces built to last, and work with your body, not against it.
  • Cult of California also makes some really hot club dresses, so when your endorphins are at their highest and you feel like you can rule the world after your workout, slip into one of her sexy little numbers and again... "Worship at the altar of you."
I can not wait to place my first order! These pants/job top will be my first purchase.

Here are a few pictures from the show. To check out more, you can check out Cult of California's Facebook Page or Plus Model Magazine's Facebook page. Plus Model Magazine also did a fabulous interview with Jen Wilder, back in March. Check it out here.

I obviously am not a photagrapher!! LOL

Left:The beautiful Ivory Jinelle checking out these AWE-mazing leggings.
Right: My Cult of California tank!

Left: The wonderfully talented, Ninja Betty and the Nunchix preformed!
Right: The lovely Reah Norman of Plus Model Magazine, designer Jen Wilder of Cult of California, myself and dear friend Sunnie.

The event was beautifully done and The Writer's Room was a beautiful. I had the honor of meeting some pretty influential women in the Plus-Sized community and industry, as well as some fabulous bloggers and models. It's important to support smaller businesses and local designers, so I highly recommend you checking out Cult of California's shop and getting your order in!

Thanks for reading!

OOTD: Asymmetrical Love

Hola!

Happy Tuesday! I hope that everyone has had a productive start to the week. I myself, am already thinking about the weekend because I am so excited to go to a trunk show for the amazing Cult of California. I do not know what I am wearing yet, but I am trying to be creative without having to go and buy something.

Anywho, my outfit today is easy. Dresses are so easy for summer, and I can not have enough. The dress is from Kmart and I have posted about them before here and how I was pleasantly surprised by their assortment of plus sizes. Even in their stores they have a nice section designated to plus. While other stores (ahem Target), give a corner that blends in with the maternity sizes, it is nice being able to have a good amount of plus available. The best part about Kmart is that I can order online and then pick up the same day (if the merch is available), on my way home from work. The only Kmart that I have close is a little run down and the less time that I spend in there, the better.

Dress: Kmart size 3X
Jacket: Torrid (was never available in this color, was available in grey but no longer available.)
Sandals: Torrid size 10 (I LOVE THESE!!!)

This dress fits great, although I wish the shorter side of the dress, fit a little longer. I feel like I have been walking around the office kind of tugging at it. You can really not beat the price though and the quality, is really nice for Kmart. I have gotten compliments on it all day.

See you guys later!!

OOTD: Baby Girl... Turn me on with your vintage feel.

Hola! I have been singing MGMT songs all morning, so hence the post title. (YesIknowthatisnothowitreallygoes.)

I was feeling very vintage this morning and since I had not shaved my legs or spray tanned, I needed a longer skirt to wear.

Anywho, here is my outfit:

Skirt: Avenue, size 20, sold out
Cardigan: Old Torrid, size 2
Shoes: Torrid, again old, size 10
Necklace: Gifted from my father in law who knows how much I love moonstones
Belt: I dunno. It came off a dress

I love this outfit. I feel very proper in it. Probably because my ass is not in danger of escaping.

Anyways, I have to get going and get back to work!

Tomorrow is Friday!!!!

OOTD:Just a little green

Happy Hump Day!! I don't know why, but I associate Wednesdays with green. Like if each day of the week had it's color, Wednesday would be green. Idunno.Isthatweird?

I wanted to show my OOTD, but I also wanted to share with you my friend Sunnie's outfit. I love it!!

First, Sunnie:

Words can not describe how awesome this dress is. We found it while thrift shopping one day. It is clearly handmade, but the best thing about this dress is the plethora of warriors all over it. Ninjas, Samurai Soldiers, and Native American Chiefs.

I love Sunnie's denim vest too and her black slide sandals. She always looks so cute!
You can check out Sunnie's Tumblr here.

Ok, now my outfit.

Dress: Old Navy size XXL (Looks like the green is sold out in this dress)
Jacket: Torrid size 2 (sold out online)
Sandals: Torrid (I am in love!) size 10
Necklace: The chain, I found in a drawer at my Nana's house and the charm I found at a craft store a few years back.

I hope that you all are having a lovely week. I have a few busy weekends coming up which is good, but I don't know about you guys, but I would love to spend an entire weekend doing NOTHING. I shouldn't complain - I must be popular!

OOTD: Not your Nana's Crochet

3 posts in 3 days - all in a row?! Waaa? I must be on a role!

Hope everyone is having a productive Tuesday! I know that I am...(working and living vicariously through the blogger friends headed to NYC for FFFweek!)

I bought the below dress recently because I have been lusting after it for a while, but I was unsure if it would look good on me. Browns of this shade tend to wash me out, so I figured that I had to add a pop of color to make it work. Again, I am loving the whole crochet thing this summer. Even though this little number does not quite scream BoHo, I still think that it's great!

I am in head to toe Torrid today.
Sandals: Torrid, size 10
Necklace: Vintage/Thrifted

That is it for now. I am kind of in awe that I am up to 70 followers now. I remember when I had just a few. I wondered if I would ever get over 10. 70 is really cool and I am really honored and flattered that people enjoy reading what I have to say and seeing what I have to wear. When I get to 100 followers, I am going to do some sort of give-a-way. Not sure what kind yet!

Thanks again and have a great day!

OOTD: They call me mellow yellow...

Good afternoon! I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I did! There is something about birthdays that are kind of like New Years Eve. I have goals and resolutions that I want to accomplish in my 29th year. I want to make 29 an awesome year and get myself ready for the big 30!

So, does anyone else hate Mondays? I used to not put much thought into my Monday outfits because I am normally just barely getting out of bed and I am lucky if my hair is dry when I leave. Well not this morning! I was able to take a bath, blow dry my hair, make my Green Smoothie and a scrambled egg and actually dress like a non-crazy person.

Here is what I am wearing today:

Jacket: Super Old Torrid size 3
Sandals: Torrid size 10

Anywho, I got to get back to work!! Hope you all have a great week!
