OOTD:HALLOWEEN!!

I pretty much love all holidays, but Halloween is one of my favorites. There is just something about dressing up as something silly or scary and having fun. I know a few religious people who think that Halloween is purely evil and Satanic... but those types of people are pretty much nuts and I do not believe in Satan, so I say "Viva Halloween, let's egg their homes!!"

Halloween is my mother's birthday, so as a kid, we took it very seriously. My mom made pretty much all of our costumes and they were so creative and unique. It's still hard for me as an adult to buy a packaged costume. I love making costumes and finding old pieces of clothing to recycle and turn them into something magical! One thing that I absolutely hate being is ordinary. I loathe it! I would not say that I am a non-conformist, but I definitely like having something or wearing something that is one of a kind. Halloween gives me that perfect outlet. Here are some of my old costumes. 

Age 5: Bride. I was determined to marry Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty... which is funny because I married a man with the last name of Phillips. So technically, I married my Prince Phillips.   :)

Age 23: Monica Lewinsky and my brother was Janet Reno. LOL. We are really into politics in my family and we tend to lean to the liberal side of things, but my brother and I were invited to a Halloween party were we had to dress as a pair and this was our choice. (Do you know how long it took me to perfect a splooge stain?? Crest Toothpaste worked the best!)

Age 23: Different party. I was Medusa, a very sexy Medusa!! I did buy this costume packaged, but I did some major reconstruction. Man I was cute back then! I was in my single/fighting shape! Nothing like living on boxed wine, reds and Lean Cuisine!!

Age 26: Mama Nature. One of the best costumes I ever made. The head piece alone is pretty amazing. I had a whole nest of birds and some butterflies. God bless the hot glue gun!!

Age 27: Sexy Russian. Inspired by my cool Communist hat that I had scored in Prague during my honeymoon, and the fact that I love anything Russian, since my mom's family is Russian... I thought this would be the perfect costume to express my Russian roots. Although... I am pretty sure that the Commies hated the Jews. 

Age 28: Unicorn (now you all know my actual age!) I loved unicorns as a kid... but not in the creepy way. I made this costume and was so happy how it turned out!
