"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."
Dr. Suess

364 days ago, I married the best guy on earth. It was a beautiful day in West Hollywood and unseasonably mild weather for July 3rd, in Southern California. Here are some of my favorite pictures.

The Bungalow Club, West Hollywood
Good food, great service and amazing for a casual, fun, hip wedding.

The patio was a perfect setting for what we wanted. The whole restaurant was closed for us.

My father-in-law was in charge of my flowers. He knew only that I wanted peonies in my bouquet and that I wanted the bouquets to match my bridesmaid's shoes, which were all dyed differently to match a color on a peacock feather. (plum, fuchsia, teal, clover green)
I was in love with the flowers.

My step-mother, who bakes cakes, designed our cake. The peacock feathers were fondant, and the cake was a white vanilla cake with lime curd, lemon curd and orange fluff. It was just as tasty as it was beautiful.

My bridesmaids, all a bit busty, wore tea-length chiffon dresses with a beautiful pleat detail on the bust, from David's Bridal. I did not want anyone to go broke over my wedding, so the dresses were all on sale. Challah!

Seeing my father's face as I walked out to greet him, will forever be in my mind. He is normally so serious and does not get emotional, but his look let me know how proud he was and I knew I looked beautiful. Nothing compares to the love a father gives to his daughter.

Our ceremony was short and sweet. We wanted something spiritual but not religious, although I did want to represent my Jewish culture by breaking of the glass. The breaking of the glass symbolizes how hard it should be break a marriage apart, just like it would be hard to put a glass back together.

My dress was simple and sweet- a David's Bridal gem! I wanted chiffon and I wanted something that draped over my curves without hugging them too much making me uncomfortable. The pleating on the bust was very flattering. If I could re-live the day, I would have worn different Spanx. I chose the shorts kind and I wore them under my bustier. The seaming did not quite match up and I have some pictures where you can see the lining.

My groom was stunning. Our rings are fabulous.

Tomorrow marks our one year wedding anniversary and it has been an amazing year. Our life feels like an exciting journey, and we are both so lucky to have found each other in this crazy world.

  2. Thank you so much! I am very lucky and he is lucky too, if I may add. We met via Match.com. I have to say though, that it kind of just happened. Seems like when you are not looking for it, love just falls out of the sky. :)
